Domodedovo Airport, confiscated in favor of the state, will be put up for sale at an open auction in early 2026. This was announced by the Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov at the end of December, noting that there are already candidates for the purchase of the airport.
“The relevant package will be offered at an auction – an open auction, which will be held in accordance with the rules established in the legislation. I am convinced that the auction will take place – there are those who want it, there are investors,” Siluanov said on the air of Rossiya 24 TV.
In September, the minister spoke about plans to sell the airport by the end of 2025. At that time, he indicated that there was already a buyer, without specifying who it was.
In June, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, seized the assets of Domodedovo Airport in favor of the state. The prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against the airport’s owner, Dmitry Kamenshchik, and his partner, Valery Kogan, as well as against companies that owned the airport’s assets.
The watchdog demanded that the privatization deals be declared invalid, as, according to the prosecutor’s office, through them foreign individuals gained control over a strategic asset.
